StarFish Seabed Imaging Systems - Shallow Water Side Scan Sonar
Since its launch in 2007, StarFish 450F has gained worldwide recognition as the most compact, affordable, towed side scan sonar on the market. Following positive industry uptake, Tritech is pleased to announce the launch of new products to create a range of StarFish Seabed Imaging Systems, for the professional underwater survey industry.
The new product range continues the signature design and now includes two higher specification units in two high-visibility colours: StarFish 452F, a high-frequency system available in reinforced yellow polyurethane rubber and StarFish 990F, a high-resolution system offered in reinforced red polyurethane rubber.
The 450 series also includes the original reinforced black polyurethane rubber towfish (StarFish 450F) or the hull mount (StarFish 450H) system, available in the same material as 450F.
StarFish 450H is the high performance hull-mounted version of the 450F side scan sonar. It eliminates the possibilities of snagging a towing cable when surveying in shallow water or in high traffic areas, due to the sonar’s compact design and flexible mounting bracket. This ensures that the StarFish 450H system can be positioned correctly on any vessel, to enable you to capture spectacular images of the seabed.
The full-body, three-fin, hydrodynamic design of the StarFish systems challenge the common cylindrical or torpedo-shape of traditional side scan sonars. The unique shape of the StarFish systems dramatically improves the stability of the sonar and consequently the quality of the images it produces. Furthermore, the advanced digital CHIRP acoustic techniques used by StarFish systems offer better range resolution compared to conventional, fixed-frequency side scan sonars.
